Two volumes, scarce. Light wear to the books, bookplates of a University of Vermont professor from whose library these volumes come, gift inscriptions to each volume, else clean and unmarked; no jacket as issued. Scarce in any state, facsimile reprints. Two volumes in the Eyewitness Accounts of the American Revolution series. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Two fold-out maps to each volume. Volume 1: one being New York City at the time of the Revolution, the other being a map of the northeast of America including parts of Quebec during the Revolution. Volume 2: one being the first map of the United States according to the Peace of 1783 and brought to America by John Jay, the other being a map of the de Lancey farm between the Bowery and the East River in New York City. The farm was burned by the Rebels upon the withdrawal of the British from the city. Judge Thomas Jones was a Loyalist, a justice of the Supreme Court of the Province of New York under the Crown. The editor,de Lancey, was the great nephew of the Lieutenant-Governor of the Province, also a Loyalist. First published in 1879 by the New York Historical Society.
