The 107th was formed from the patrician 7th NYIR and the plebian 1st and 12th Infantry Regiments of upstate New York. This merged unit of the "silk stockings" and the "apple knockers" hurled themselves against the Hindenburg Line. This action contributed to the collapse of the German Army and the ending of the war a few weeks later.
