Light shelf wear to the book which is cocked; more to the tips, corners, and edges of the jacket which has four closed tears. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover. Born in the Himalayan town of Simla in 1910 Hunt took up mountaineering as a youngster in the Alps. Posted back to India at the age of twenty-one he took part in several Himalayan expeditions through the 1930's and during the post war period. Under his leadership Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit. He and Hillary were made knights in one of Queen Elizabeth's first acts on monarch.
