Patton, found her way out of her traditional Southern upbringing to become a civil rights writer and activist. Ms Boyle marched on Washington in 1963 and was arrested at a sit-in in segregated Florida. Dr. Martin Luther King praised her in Letter From A Birmingham Jail. Of this book he wrote: "..to miss reading it is to miss one of the most eloquent and captivating documents that has emerged from the southern situation...It is a beautiful expression of the power of Christian love operating in the human heart."--from the flap.
