The Book Shed

Shelf wear to tips, corners and edges of book, leather is scuffed in places, penciled previous owner's inscription, else clean and unmarked, no cracking of hinges or looseness of binding. Brown and gilt decorated three quarter leather with, flower device repeated four times, five raised ribs and marbled foredges and endpapers. The inscription is that of Barton Hoopes(1827-1895) partner in Hoopes & Townsend an important manufacturer of nuts and bolts in Philadelphia.
