The expedition collected around 11,400 animal specimens which took Smithsonian naturalists eight years to catalog. It also spawned several popular books like this one (one of the first.) 1910 saw Roosevelt's own African Game Trails as well as an early documentary film, Roosevelt in Africa, by Englishman Cherry Kearton, one of the world's earliest wildlife photographers.
